Ron Bowles, who is an online security consultant. He just used some codes, which scan almost 100m users profile and collected the datum which was not protected through the privacy settings.
According to BBC this file is now available for free download, having the URL of every “searchable” Facebook user’s profile, their name and unique ID. However, it is also being said, bowels did so because he wanted to unveil the privacy setting of Facebook.
In the meantime Facebook said that this information was already public, and the information was never compromised. In fact, there is no such private data that has been compromised.
Facebook also confirmed, “In this case, information that people have agreed to make public was collected by a single researcher and already exists in Google, Bing, other search engines, as well as on Facebook”.
Definitely there is some lag in the Facebook privacy settings, which serves an opportunity for the hackers. Rather, few months back, users celebrated “Quit Facebook Day”, but still the problem continues. Let’s see when Facebook really will wake from the sleep.
