TwitterWith the launch of Verizon iPhone the market share of AT&T and Sprint will be further divided and shared with Verizon. This is still a thought but sounds quite realistic. With the emergence of this CDMA iPhone, a lot of people are going to switch to Verizon simply because they have not been too happy with the quality of network. This has been concluded from the survey that was conducted by Omnibus recently.
The survey that was done on a thousand customers from the United States led to a conclusion that more than 50% of the Verizon subscribers are going to buy the iPhone on Carrier network. About 23% of existing AT&T users, 20% of T-mobile users and 22% of the existing Sprint users are going to opt for the Verizon iPhone. Considering this possibility Verizon’s network needs to be ready for this kind of a strength using their network, else it is likely to collapse within no time.
They will have to cater for an ever increasing bandwidth. They either take advantage of this opportunity to increase their customer base or simply let it go and regret later for being ill prepared. It is believed that Apple will launch a CDMA phone which will be compatible with Verizon’s network. This is likely to happen around January next year. AT&T is already suffering from the heavy customer traffic in their own network that it can collapse any time if improvements are not made at the earliest. The pressure is felt by both Verizon and Apple and only time will tell who will live up to the customers’ expectations.

A near field communication (NFC) technology expert was hired by Apple in 2004. After he was hired there has been a feeling that Apple is working with iPhone system which is contactless. Benjamin Vigier, the NFC expert, also happens to be the new product manager at Apple for the mobile commerce section. While he was with mFoundry, he was the product manager of NFC, payment and mobile wallet applications. Here his job was to look after barcode payment service of Starbucks and PayPal mobile service. He has also rendered his services for conceiving and managing applications of mobile wallet for two of the topmost network operators of the United Sates. He has contributed to the NFC wallet application for 3 banks in the United States. He has worked for Bouygues Telecom and SanDisk.
Apple has applied for a number of patents in the past few months such as iCoupons, ibuy and iPay. These are a part of a mobile marketing and mobile commerce business that deal with iPhones which are NFC enabled. These patents include various services such as paying a customer or a trader using a credit or a debit card. Payment is possible even through iTunes credit. Another application is a part of the system where boarding a pass and ticketing for airline will be made possible for customers. This will enable customers to go through the security clearance on their own and also get themselves checked at the entrance. It will also be possible to transfer files using Grab and Go Patent.
FanSnap Ticket Booking Application Launched on iPhone
FanSnap is the most well known and perhaps the largest search engine for booking tickets for live events. Fans book their tickets for the live concerts from FanSnap. The good news for the fans is that an application for iPods and iPhones has been launched. So fans that are keen on booking their seats for the NCAA and NFL football matches, can immediately go and get the iPhone app free of cost from iTunes app store. Army to Test Google Android and iPhone Apps

It is precisely because of this reason that U.S. Army is considering use of mobile devices for use by soldiers. Imagine how much will an Army app help in locating a landmark in the battle field or even finding the current location. The Army has actually started working with the Google and Apple to come up with mobile devices. Lt. Gen Jeff Sorenson, U.S. Army chief information officer shared the aim behind this initiative. He said that it is a step towards exploring the new way of fighting a war. “…What I’m trying to do is to get capability to the war fighter much more rapidly…,”He added.
He also talked about an ad hoc arrangement which could pass through the bureaucratic procedures and make practical use of the opportunities that the private sector is presenting almost every single day. He also shared his vision of soldiers equipped with iPhones and Androids heading towards conducting a war mission. An event was conducted in Florida recently which produced 53 candidates who came up with different kinds of apps for iPhone for use by soldiers. The event was a grand success and prizes were also awarded worth $1,000 to $3,000.

A new guy for Mobile Commerce has been hired by Apple and that too with loads of experience in near field communication (NFC). NFC is a technology used for a number of things. It is a high frequency but short range wireless technology which allows exchange of information among devices within the distance of about 4 inches. It is more of an extension of ISO/IEC 14443 that integrates the functionality of a reader as well as a smart card into a single gadget. It can communicate with other NFC devices as well as with ISO/IEC 14443 cards.
The technology finds itself to working well with all the wireless or contactless devices. It is already in use in various fields such as payments, transportation and so on. So even though Vigier does not implement NFC in iPhone 5 Apple will ensure that users still enjoy the convenience of similar features that will make life much easier. iPhone 5 is believed to have a 5 megapixel camera and is likely to be launched next year.
